I've decided togo back on welfare

Due to part-time status (under 20 hours a week), I've decided to go back on welfare.

So over the next week, I will record my ordeal...

The new protocol is they make you wait 3 weeks to build up a 5 resume/day job hunting history plus paperwork.

This works out to 75 applications until June 13.

I should have applied last month!!

This 3 week BS is only a year old.

The following is my state of mind entry and total candidness is excluded from the narrative to protect the privacy of myself and others.

Yesterday (Wednesday) I didn't get a job, but asked the interviewer to pass my resume onto the warehouse for any seasonal work.

However, my disappointment led to the realization that I've been reacting negatively to low income this month i.e. difficulty with landlord, being slothful in getting the qualifying paperwork for my intake on Friday, June 17.

So I got all the bank paperwork done today. Tomorrow, I just need the signature from the landlord.

I will iterate repeatedly that the welfare benefits will be TEMPORARY and of short duration (no more than 90 days).

As of today I noticed a drastic change from the previous two weeks in my personality at the career search program: no coffee, more healthy food.

This is because I got paid on Wednesday from the same security company in which I was injured last July 19, 2004. *See previous entry following that date for details.*

My feelings about my current situation is stable.

I have noticed little agitation of about my present life situation, except for the delayed abreaction to the landlord's disappointment in me only providing partial payment of rent for June.

As well there was a temporary delusive episode I experienced on Wednesday when I temporarily decided to use income from said security company for expenses while on welfare.

Today I feel that the next check will go towards rent.

Also, I've been going to a career exploration workshop which started on June 6, and ends June 23.

I will add documentation of this to the paperwork with welfare, as well as the name of my employment counsellor.

Thus, paperwork does exist to show that I am not going on welfare for the same reason as other clients.

It has been, is and will be a temporary solution.

To add to the drama, Alliance One is the new debt collector for my student loan.

More on Alliance One - Canadian Student Loan.

Oh, and my landlord is harassing my brother.

My mom said she'd blast my landlord if he calls her.

Though she also added verbalizing of her feelings about my debt, which is useless to me getting a job and all.

This emotional baggage has no useful information like, job leads, how do deal with deal, and ways of coping with the stress.

Since Wednesday I feel like I had a relapse due to the accumulated stress of dealing with a landlord who is missing $300 of unpayable rent, and now the new collection agent.

Solution for student loan debt: see CIBC. Tell them of my situation. I am sure they have all my information. Tell them I am also taking a career planning program.

But as of now, my blood pressure is up and I feel irrational.

On Monday June 13, MHR (welfare) rejected my claim.

The worker at intake told me that I didn't do the required 5 job entries per day, and now the 3 weeks start anew.

I apologized: my usual passive self.

Then I added, "Man, welfare has changed considerably since I was last on it five years ago!"

Afterwards, I thanked the worker.

He also gave me the same suggestion my landlord and my PEP counsellor gave me: apply at all the labour companies and show up for work.

PEP is the Phoenix Employment Program for people in the process of career change.

So I applied at the 3 labour employment places in downtown Surrey, but didn't get to the one on Grosvenor Road.

After today's session with PEP: I went to all 3 labour employment places.

Result of first place: closed due to driving workers to their sites.

Result of second place: no jobs posted.

Finally the third place came up with 5 hours of loading two trailers with boxes of pigfat.

Overall, a lot of work for this little man led to me avoiding all the really heavy lifting.

Later, at the bus stop, a lady who was waiting for the bus gave me a daypass, because she already had a buspass.

So yes, there is a God!

Update: Due to insufficient jobs per day (5/day, 7 days a week), I've been refused an interview.

Since I do have two part-time jobs, I've decided to ask for more hours at one of those jobs.
