When forgotten are
these imaginary fears,
this fool forgets self,
remembering the Buddha —
Namu Amida Butsu!

This poem was written to calm my mind.

"Imaginary fears" refer to social anxiety disorder and social phobia.

They also refer to anxiety in general.

The phrase "this fool" refers to the ordinary human being that I am.

When I forget about these imaginary fears, which are false ones, I forget about the little self, the ego, which make use of these fears to distract me from the Pure Land path.

"Remembering the Buddha" refers to the Nembutsu, which aids in reducing those fears.
