Contemplation on Happiness (poem)

May each of us become happy
as life becomes more bearable,
going calmly into the world.

May we all practise happy abiding,
harmful to none, and most beneficial to all --
content in the absolute truth of loving-kindness.

May no one suffer needlessly,
always content with what one has,
their happiness truly at hand.

May we all achieve that state of mind
where the careful balance between dualities
merges into the oneness called the calm mind.

May everyone enjoy such a mind
which has abandoned discrimination
and no longer calculates the fruits of action.

May we all become happy,
our mind freed of suffering,
our hearts full of loving-kindness.
