Why Militants of Religion Attack Women

Celebration of the female body was also partially supported in Constatinople, though radical Christians back then were known to desecrate any art that depicted nudity.

Some of the battles that the Byzantine Empire fought were with Christians who subscribed to a more militant form of Christianity led by religious leaders sympathetic to Gnostic teachings which claimed that worldliness was evil and that godliness was good.

Due to militancy among the Christians, a pagan mathematician was assassinated by radical Christians in Alexandria for preferring the pagan sciences over the conservatism of Christianity.

IMO militant elements of Islam cater to this same kind of conservatism. Even though the Roman Empire was corrupt before Constantine the Great made Christianity a state religion, its art was did not lead to the excesses of pornography in America.

Although the decadence of Caligula is well known, only writings by authors who were not fond of him are known as it was common to destroy any literature praising him after that emperor's death along with statues of him and his god-horse.

Today, the fans of celebrities sometimes tend to worship almost like gods. Even when they act like drug addicts and never-do-wells, their fans still support them when they go into rehab.

However, American mass media is keen to display the bodies of celebrities as though it is a social good i.e. the right to freedom of expression.

To Muslim conservatives, it is obscenity mainly due to hardliners who fear that such obscenity will corrupt the morals of their youths, especially the men.

What they do not admit is that such obscenity was condemned by Muhammad because he too feared being corrupted by the idols of Mecca.

When a good man who fears corruption lashes out by killing people, that is the root of militancy. It matters not if it was 1500 years ago or last year.

As long as a religion protects its core values with militancy and the threat of death of unbelievers, it is an intolerant religion. This is what American Christians are trying to say.

Yet in more primitive areas of Asia, Christians are not less militant and intolerant as their Muslim brothers and sisters e.g. Brazil after an amateur football game, clashes between Christians and Buddhists in rural areas of Burma, India and Thailand, the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii, etc.

Religion promote conservative values, many of which are becoming increasingly outdated. This is why people apostate and leave religion.

As long as religion holds onto traditional values without tolerance of modern values, the violence will continue.

For any religion that allows for killing and other violent forms of repression has lost the core values of non-violence and peace that was integral to its founding.

US Secret Service Sex Scandal Just Pornographic Titillation

This is Dania, the hooker who brought down all the president's men in Colombia in March. Apart from her pictures, the stories are not worth the read at all. It's yellow journalism. It may all be true, but by tarnishing the rep of the US SS, the media is not truly attacking the corruption rife within the military-industrial complex. My comment, off the cuff is, "boys will be boys". I follow it with: "This ain't real news; this is soft core porn." Yes, I accuse any media outlet having this on the new as promoting pornographic titillation to sell newspapers. Stop peddling porn and tell the truth: why do men still rent hookers when they go a night on the town?

Corruption as Metaphor for Urbanization

Corruption is difficult to hide in the country than in a city.

For one of the reasons for urbanization is to mask corruption such that the most successful urban citizens are often called "city fathers", even though their current philanthropy is based on years of socializing with the "right crowd".

We can also see this in how people watch TV. In the city setting, usually people watch TV in their apartment buildings with their family.

Most people in rural India do not watch TV like we do, but as a group in a rural setting. For not all people own TVs.

So their corruption only happens when they move to the city during the struggle involved in earning a living whilst keeping a roof over their heads.

Thus, the New Left's critique of the State is actually a critique of urban life i.e. "Smash the State" actually means "Humanize the Process of Urbanization" and actually is a critique of rapid urbanization ("fast urbanization").

Most people involved in the counterculture movement tried to form communes in a rural setting. However, because public education does not include any education on raising livestock but instead focuses on academics, most of these communes failed.

More than likely, recreational drug use associated with the counterculture movement was a sign of corruption which was not heeded by the movement's advocates. It diverted attention from learning how to raise livestock and how to get along with rural society.

Corruption in India is a metaphor for the corruption of urbanization. Actually, the yogis represent resistance to urbanization on a rapid scale.

Tokyo gives us an example of the side effects of massive urbanization: the hikikomori kids are similar to the mentally ill in the West with regard to their social isolation, which is seen as reaction to being bullied for not fitting in with society. This isolation results in mental health issues.

Thus, the hikikomori effect is due to "fast urbanization" i.e. urbanization on a massive scale.

In order to reduce urbanization's effect on its citizens, concerned members of cities around the world have demanded "slow urbanization" i.e. urbanization that is held in check by red tape and bureaucracy with the city obtaining input from concerned citizens and nearby rural areas that supply food helping to slow down urban growth in cities using agricultural laws to limit what rural areas are used for housing.

Reform in city governments which allows for chickens and rooftop gardens is a step in the right direction, but must be accompanied by a "slow urbanization" manifesto.

So far, the spirituality community has given no such manifesto but a smörgåsbord of spiritual materialism.

Undernutrition Kills Kids Yearly

Reference: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080117/hl_afp/healthchildrennutrition_080117211620

Now I have been vindicated when earlier I mentioned the main problem of the post-modern diet is the risk of sub-clinical malnutrition. What is under-nutrition but malnutrition?

According to French researchers, under-nutrition "is to blame for 3.5 million deaths among children aged under five each year, but most of the fatalities occur in 20 countries, where targeted aid programmes could swiftly address the problem."

This is the world-wide malnutrition problem caused by lack of food, but you can still go on to claim that sub-clinical malnutrition is common in developed countries where children do not go to bed hungry, but get nutrient-poor food daily like carbonated beverages, processed meat, and factory meats which are heavily loaded with chemicals designed to ensure product makes it to your dinner table.

While I am not saying more people should go out hunting, I am saying that shopping in a grocery store is not the same as growing your own vegetables, raising your own chicken and hunting & fishing for part of your food intake.

IMHO hunting and fishing licenses are not done to conserve limited game resources, but to ensure rich hunting & fishing "hobbyists" can afford to get a trophy. The waste of game resources is one travesty of such sport, and such hobbyists should be forced to take lessons on the processing of their game into meat as part of the hunting & fishing licensing process. While I am sure fish suffer as much being hooked and clubbed to death, I am not convinced barb-less hooks and the current practise of catch-and-release is any less traumatic for the fish. However, sports hunters and fishers should limit their hunting and fishing to what they can eat.

Getting back to those kids in developing countries, the main reason they are starving is due to foreign aid not getting to them. In most cases, the privileged few in a given nation are hoarding food supplies stolen from the foreign aid agencies through fraud. A leader of a corrupt nation could easily force an army of "homeless and starving" native to grab what they get and cache it at a specific site. If that army is bigger and stronger than the actual homeless and starving people, then the foreign aid agency can only stand back and watch.

No one knows if 750 out of 1000 people are aligned with the corrupt leader and hoarding while the other 250 get barely enough to last them a day, a week, or a month.

So what actually kills kids in undeveloped countries is not actually under-nutrition but social Darwinism. However, penalizing the corrupt leaders will not help the kids. Only Bill Gates and Frank Giustra can do that, because it is so cheap to feed and care for children in developing nations.

This post marks my second one where a reference URL is not converted to a working link. This is a good "feature" of my limited interface in the Blogger editor due to it detecting Konqueror. In fact it detects Konqueror and is not fooled by the spoofing Konqueror provides.
