The Anti Fame and Celebrity Poem

if i was less the man i am
it'd be me out there
getting my five minutes of fame,
acting like i don't care.

yet i am the man i am,
and it's getting easy to
maintain my cool now;
don't worry, i'm safe!

but...
if i was less the man i am
i'd be out there too!
don't need that five minutes of fame,
because i really care.

and you can be the man, too!
with practice it gets easy
to keep your cool, see?
let's walk away safe.

cos...
i don't need five minutes of fame.
i have lost desire
for easy notoriety,
because i truly care!

who needs the attention?
who needs the lasting shame?

i don't need five minutes of fame.
i have lost the lust
to get instant infamy,
because i wouldn't dare!

for i am the man that i am,
and i'd do anything
i can to maintain my cool.
let's walk away safe...

i don't need the attention;
i don't need the pain
of trying to second guess myself.
i'm not worried anymore.

who needs the bother of celebrity,
with a dozen paparazzi in your face?
who needs to see one's picture
on the telly in disgrace?

i don't, i don't, i don't
try to be more than i am.
i won't, i won't, i won't
take more than i can.

for i am the man i am,
and it is so easy to
maintain my cool now;
don't worry, i'm safe!

for i am the man that i am,
and i can do nothing
but try to maintain my cool,
walking away safe...
