Il sait ce qui est devant eux et ce qui derrière eux;
Sa connaissance s'étend sur les cieux et la terre;

Quran 2:255 Ayat al-Kursi

One of the most famous verses of the Quran, Ayat al-Kursi is the most widely memorized of verses. Even in French it maintains much of the emphatic description of God's power over the entire universe.

Muslims believe that anyone who recites the verse enters the protection and security of God. Thus it is the great affirmation of a Muslim before bedtime.

It is said that Satan recommended al-Kursi, reportedly saying "Whenever you go to bed, recite Ayat Al-Kursi from the beginning to the end, 'God — there is no God but He, the Living, the Self-Subsisting and All Sustaining'. If you do so, God will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you, and no demon will come near you until morning."

Yet this verse has no magical religious power. Rather, it affirms the faith of true believers of God.

It is also said that when you recite this verse in the evening, you are under the protection of God at night and when you recite it in the morning, you are protected until evening. Thus it may be recited during prayers.
