Judgment (poem)

He who earnestly treads the path
Sees no error in the world.
When we find fault with others,
Who is in the wrong but us?
When others are in the wrong,
We overlook, and even condone it.
For it is wrong to condemn it!
By removing the habit of fault-finding
We cut off a source of defilements.
When only hate or love disturbs our mind,
Nightmares and daydreams will plague us.

More radiant is the Mind

The mind is something more radiant than anything else can be, but because counterfeits &dmdash; passing defilements — come and obscure it, it loses its radiance, like the sun when obscured by clouds. Don't go thinking that the sun goes after the clouds. Instead, the clouds come drifting along and obscure the sun. — Ajaan Mun, "Heart Released"
