The purpose of the Dharma is to teach the Sangha how to become Buddhas. - Professor Eiken Kobai
As the Buddha said, "Everyone has Buddha Nature". Yet not all people wish to become Buddhas.
To become a Buddha, the Buddhist only needs to commit herself and take the effort to meditate every day.
For the purpose of meditation is to help control the mind. By controlling the mind, the devotee is able to think clearly and critically so as to live a fuller life.
How does one live a fuller life as a Buddhist? By living mindfully in the present moment in all daily activity.
