On youtube, the previews of The Snowmen in the Dr Who Christmas special give just enough information to form its premise but barely enough to get the theme right.
However, the clever prequels with the Silurian detective and her love from Victoria England gives us a big clue that the Doctor is the greatest detective.
In real life, this episode is a reflection of Moffatt's new Sherlock Holmes series. Though, it'd be nice for the Doctor to hide out in Victoria England, as I recall an episode with the Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones where she played a servant and Doctor Who played a human being to avoid being killed by an enemy.
So after Series 6 "Death of Doctor Who" arc, it took five episodes to get rid of the Ponds by sending them back in time to 1946, in a time pocket that the Tardis cannot visit without being trapped.
It appears that a stone angel not unlike the ones in Series 05x04 and 05x05 sends them to that fixed point in time. It's so fixed that it fixes them in time in such a way that the Doctor can never rescue them.
Cue to Series 7x06 The Snowmen.
It turns out people's thoughts animated them. If you think of calm and peaceful tranquility, they turn to water. That's pretty Buddhist! ;)
It turns out that Carla used to be a barmaid, and does not let anything Doctor Who does to stop her from learning more about him. Though she'll still get giddy adventuring throughtout time and space with him, without the need of ale.

Where's Arthur Darvill At?
If you're a fan of Dr Who, you know him as Rory Williams, husband of Amy Pond on Dr Who, wed during Series 5, survived the apparent death of the Doctor in Series 6 and sent by a stone angel to a fixed point in time in Manhattan in the late 1940s in Series 7.
If not, then the 2010 Ian Dury biopic, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll had him cast as Mick Gallagher, the guy who played the Hammond organ for Dury's band, The Blockheads. Showcased as Ian Dury and the Blockheads, this band's claim to fame is the song Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.
Darvill was a perfect fit for Gallagher, since his father played Hammond organ for the Northern Soul artist Edwin Starr, R&B and soul singer, Ruby Turner, the reggae/pop band UB40 and the rock band Fine Young Cannibals.
He's also had a solid background in theatre from age 10 on with training in stage combat at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Here he is in military uniform with weapon at the ready in the Dr Who Series 6 final, The Wedding of River Song in a smashing fan video mix with music from The End by Kings of Leon with shorts that episode.
Though, his role as Rory Williams may have something to do with both Darvill and Matt Smith, starring the stage play version of Swimming with Sharks in 2007. If Steven Moffat heard about that, then it would be great to team them up with Karen Gillan, who received a lot of comedy and drama spots from BBC.
Yet that's speculation, which is what gossip isn't about. >:)
When the Emilé Zola novel, Au Bonheur des Dames (The Ladies' Paradise), was rewritten for UK TV as The Paradise in 2012, transplanting its characters to North East England, Arthur Darvill played in a bit part as Bradley Burroughs in Episode 5. He plays a barber who is made a junior partner in the Paradise, a high-class department store by its founder Moray. When Burroughs threatens to reveal all about Moray's wife's death, he ends up missing (and probably dead).
Last year, he played in Doctor Faustus as Mephistopheles at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. This year, he played Parry in Our Boys at Duchess Theatre. These theatres may not be as big as Broadway is to Americans, but to people in the UK who love theatre, these venues are bigger in their eyes.
So, it looks like theatre is in his blood and he's good at bit parts, plus he knows how to make pizza. That's where Arthur Darvill's at.

Dr Who's Got a New Companion!
Yes, it might be be old news to Dr Who fans, but what is new are the two following videos, which introduces Earth's Greatest Detective.
This video also clued me in on Karen Gillan's green card, as noted in my previous blog entry.
Next, Jenna-Louise Coleman is introduced as Carla, the Doctor's new companion.
So, it looks like Dr Who will replace Sherlock Holmes as the Universe's Greatest Detective.
No, wait! Better yet, Carla will become Dr Who's new companion, and bring proper manners and proper decor to the Tardis!
Though, it's only proper now to Google "Arthur Darvill" and find out what's happening to the actor who played Rory Williams...

SPOILERS! Dr Who Series 7 Episode- Asylum oft he Daleks
SPOILERS: please move on if you have yet to see any of Series 7 of Dr Who.
We now blank the screen until the people who haven't seen Dr Who have moved on!
Oh wait! Sorry, this is about the Daleks.
Dr Who makes it to Hong KOng, and Youtube gets the bootlegs.
Only a couple weeks ago I could only get a audio copy as a torrent. So anyway Series 7 Episode 1 is about the Asylum of the Daleks.
Because of a security breach, the council of Daleks want Dr Who and the Ponds to help save them. If all the Daleks who were defeated by the Doctor the universe could be threatened.
I sort of love the Daleks. They hate the Doctor's compassion, his unwillingness to let a Dalek express the beauty of hate, which the Doctor finds disgusting.
Reviewing my memories of the old Daleks and the new, I'm trying to remember what country they remind me of... the soviet union? Communist China? Asian crime gangs? Drug addicts in cold turkey? People on the dole queued up?
Then I looked in the mirror, and felt sad.
The Daleks represent our negative emotions and those rare moments when we enjoy them so very much.
Then we apologize, or worse, spent time in jail.
Then maybe, our peers just might forgive us...
Well, usually they don't and become like Daleks just because we exposed their hate to the world.
Anyway, this isn't always the case. "To err is human; to forgive, divine."
I dunno why people don't like being divine; I guess they're just too human to be kind and nice and loving.
A wise man once said before the mob crushed him, "Forgive them for they know not what they do..."
In a real stretch to left field, the Doctor is a bit like that wise man who is so lonely, he needs a human companion to share his travels with.
Recently Series six we had the Ponds, and in three more episodes, they'll meet the Weeping Angels and the crack in Emily's wall will be fixed forever.
Until then, we have dinosaurs on a spaceship... and a couple more, including Rory's Dad on an adveture with the Doctor.
Until I see them, I'm gonna give it rest.
For I don't need eggs, eggs, ex, exterminate!!!
