How I Survived the Swine Flu
Then the first symptoms started.
During October 17-20, I felt listless, achy, had a fever, lots of phlegm, and the neuropsychiatric affect mentioned above.
A week later, I decided to start taking antihistamines for the mucus build up along with one ibuprofen a day. At first I used fexofenadine for about a week, and then switched to cetirizine.
As well, I'd been taking Swiss Natural Sources High Potency Cod Liver Oil, and found the high potency garlic capsules I'd been keeping in case of a cold.
By November 12, I was over most of the symptoms. Currently the one of the symptoms I have left consist of occasional coughing, which may be related to histamine levels (allergy).
This occurred when I had a Yogen Früz slurpie, which contains a milk product. Though it might be remotely to the flu. This may also indicate a normal cough reflex due to eating certain cold foods.
Another symptom I have is a secondary infection. It consists of eustachian tube blockage in my right ear.
What appears to "fix" it is to take a garlic capsule, and bite on it to release the contents of the capsule, which then is kept in my mouth until it's absorbed into the mucus membrane lining the inside of the mouth.
So, overall it's taken about a month to get over the flu.
However, what I feel actually helped me get over the flu is the Vitamin D in the cod liver oil capsules. It also prevented the flu from weakening me, even during the time when my lungs were severely congested.
I also used cough drops for the flu, and bought some mint tea for coughs.
To sum up, here are the supplements I used to get over the flu:
Cod liver oil capsules -- improves immunity, mood, and calcium & magnesium levels at three capsules a day. - Swiss Natural Sources Hi Potency Cod Liver Oil
Garlic capsules -- relieves infections -- I take three capsules a day - the recommended dosage - according to the label - Swiss Natural Sources Triple Strength Odourless Garlic, 500 mg
Siberian ginseng -- adaptogen, acts as calmative - I take about three of these day.
Nutrilite Stress B -- after a couple weeks when I'd knocked this bottle of vitamins (super concentrated yeast tablets) off my bedroom cabinet, it got stuck behind one of the cabinet drawers. Now, I am back taking these tablets up to three times a day
Nutrilite Flex 500 - I take this product for its EPA content which is 500 mg per capsule. I take three a day, the recommended dosage. During the flu, I stopped taking this supplement since I was dosing with the garlic oil capsules and the cod liver oil capsules.
Thinning out the blood combined with the neuropsychiatric affect of the flu could be potentially harmful. So to prevent any serious complications, I try to stay in good humor. Though, I am convinced the regular intake of Vitamin D is helping stabilized my mood swings.
Mint tea -- I make myself a cup of mint tea occasionally for digestive aid and to reduce coughing.
Other supplements I take:
Centrum Select 50+ -- this is for regular maintenance of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Strategic Health Muscle Recovery -- this is for joint pain and inflammation. Frankincense works well.
Yeast tablets -- I only take these as needed.
Now Super Odorless Garlic - each capsule of this product contains 50 mg of concentrated garlic extract, hawthorn extract 100 mg, hawthorn berry 250 mg, and cayenne pepper 100 mg. I don't take much of this product because of the cayenne. It should be taken twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed.
Jamison Calcium Magnesium with Vitamin D -- I take this product sparingly. 1 a day when I actually need it
Melatonin - this product helps to adjust my body clock. I take it sparingly
Products I rarely take:
goldenseal root tincture -- this is for infection. it also causes blood pressure to rise, so i rarely take it.
Milk thistle tincture -- i should take this occasionally for revitalizing my liver.
Krople zoladkowe T - Polish tincture for digestive problems
Product I take rarely
Xtreme Lean -- think of this product as a coffee substitute. the dosage is two 1500 mg capsules before breakfast and two capsules in mid afternoon. but you need to have it with lots of food. so i only use this rarely if i need an energy boost. i only use one capsule once a day because of the risks involved in taking too much of it.
For the record, I do not overdo any of the supplements I take. With supplements, I practise my Less-is-more philosophy.
As well, because I did not take the flu shot, I feel much more healthy than I would have, had I gone in for a shot.
IMHO the cod liver oil and the garlic capsules helped the most in keeping the flu from getting worse. It's doubtful that I'll be saying the same, had I gone in for my shot.

Please Report Me to Health Canada!
Canadian Rights And Freedoms Are At Risk
An Important Notice Regarding Bill C-51
On April 8th, 2008, the Canadian Minister of Health introduced Bill C-51 into the House of Commons. This Bill proposes significant changes to the current Food and Drugs Act that will have wide-ranging negative implications for Canadians.
Bill C-51 will:
· Remove democratic oversight, bypassing elected officials to vote in laws and allow bureaucrats to adopt laws from other countries without our consent.
· Remove 70% of Natural Health Products from Canadians and many others will be available by prescription only.
· Restrict research and development of safe natural alternatives in favor of high risk drugs.
· Punish Canadians with little or no opportunity for protection or recourse for simply speaking about or giving a natural product without the approval of government. More than 70% of people in Canada use a Natural Health Product. The new law goes so far as to warrant action against a person who would give another person an “unapproved” amount of garlic on the recommendation that it would improve that person’s health.
Proposed New Enforcement Powers:
- Inspectors will enter private property without a warrant
- Inspectors will take your property at their discretion
- Inspectors will dispose of your property at will
- Inspectors will not reimburse you for your losses
- Inspectors will seize your bank accounts
- Inspectors will charge owners shipping and storage charges for seized property
- Inspectors will be empowered to store your property indefinitely
- Inspectors will levy fines of up to $5,000,000.00 and/or seek 2 years in jail per incident
With your assets and money under their control will you be able to defend yourself in Court?
Can you trust government with this new law and enforcement power?
Would our government really ever turn this law against us? Read the following account.
Example
In 2003 Health Canada launched an attack on a group of mentally ill patients and the company who supported them naturally. They seized shipments of a safe natural therapy required by the patients and stormed the support center with 17 armed officers and agents. The company (Truehope) reported that they lost contact with more than 300 of their Canadian participants. The Canadian Mental Health Association told of suicides as a result of government action.
Health Canada then charged the not for profit company, burdening them with heavy legal costs. Truehope was found innocent by necessity and instructed by the judge to continue under legal and moral responsibility. Although the agents admitted knowing they were injuring people through their actions, they stated under oath they care only about policy and directive. And what happened to the more than 300 mentally ill Canadians that became unreachable? In the months and years following, reports of hospitalizations and suicides during the seizures have surfaced. No Health Canada agent has ever been charged.

Commentary:
When Bill C-51 becomes law, that means that I will be arrested in due course since i've been suggesting that natural is better than using pharma meds in non life threatening illnesses.
In fact, me stating "japanese cuisine, eaten in moderation, can save your life" will become illegal to state.
The foods that are life saving are natto, wasabi, chinese cabbage (especially fermented), chinese turnips, (especially ferment ed daikon colored with tumeric), shiso, and purple yam.
Rice is only healthy when eaten with raw fish i.e. on top of rice balls with sliced ginger and wasabi.
Moderate amounts of sake is also healthy when drunk in moderation after a moderate sized meal.

My First and Last Experience With Codeine
So I endured painful urination for about a week before I popped one T-3.
Within 15 minutes, I was actually high. Seriously, I felt as though the observer part of me was on the ceiling.
Sadly though, every pill after the first never got me that high again.
That's because I develop a rapid tolerance to most psychoactive medication and alcohol. This is even occurs with healthfood supplements such as theanine, melatonin, valerian, etc.
I bet if I took at T-3 again, then the worst that would happen is I'd feel a little mellow and get constipated.
However, I will stick to healthfood supplements in moderation.

Pros and Cons of Smart Drinks And Smart Nutrients
Originally smart nutrients are present as food additives and “Designer Foods”.
Some of these designer foods may contain slimming (amphetamine-like substances such as ephedrine and caffeine from both synthetic and natural sources extracted from guarana) and muscle invigorating products (creatine).
Smart nutrients contain such active ingredients as:
antioxidants (Vitamins. A, C & E)
vitamins B (B1, B3, B6 & B12)
lecithin (refined from soy meal)
amino acids (phenylalanine & taurine)
pure caffeine
phytoextracts (GINKGO biloba & ginseng)
phenylalanine (aiming at counteracting the effects of ecstasy and cocaine)
Thus, food additives may be marketed as counteracting the negative effects of ecstasy and cocaine respectively).
However, in the case of caffeine, be it synthetic or from natural sources, when used in moderation, it is a safer alternative to illegal stimulants.
As well, for sensitive people, doses of megavitamins in smart foods and smart nutrients may not be so smart after all.
For megadoses of vitamins are potentially harmful on doses higher than their respective RDI (Recommended Daily Intake).
E.g. pyridoxine (B6) is neurotoxic when taken in doses over 50 Mg.
In contrast to B6, thiamine (B1) is relatively harmless at higher doses, and may even be used to improve brain function, and as a safer alternative to insect repellants.
