One by one, our rights in B.C. are being lost.
While our right to protest has become eroded by legislation, not all the protesters are in solidarity. Some of them are even throwing a monkey wrench into the struggle.
However, I refuse to become militant. For non-violent confrontation works for me.
The B.C. Liberals haven't changed from my grandparents' days.
Today, it isn't the Japanese community that's under attack. Now it's almost anyone who won't follow the corporate agenda, and become the sheep at photo-ops where the participants gleefully throw our tax dollars at symbols of the attack on the environment, on the homeless, and on anyone with the guts to stand up to them.
I refuse to follow the New Left because they vowed to bring disorder and chaos; and I refuse to follow the NDP because their compassion is shallow.
For those people in power will not resist the temptation to abuse their authority. Lord Acton still has it right after all those years: "Absolute power corrupts absolutely."
THE ONLY ANSWER IS NON-VIOLENT CONFRONTATION.

It is time for a change, people of BC. Big Business should not be contributing to a political campaign of an election, but this is why the BC Liberals are still in power. It is also why the Conservatives are in power federally.
Thus, federally, the Green Party gets my vote every four years, while provincially, it will be the Greens once again.
My reason for this is because the People have never been heard by any other party. If you think they were, then you are mistaken. As long as first-past-the-post elections are held, the voice of the People will continued to be ignored.
For it is a tradition to only pick either the Liberals or the Conservatives, but it is Big Business that almost always supports the winner because they pay for the disingenuous politicking. This includes the mainstream media in BC.
Everything on the television is merely propaganda, be it advertising or PR from Victoria.
Yet mainstream media will filter out alternate views that challenge the status quo, usually by banning it. Censorship has kept out the fact that much of the daily news is slanted in such a way as to favor the neo-conservatives, given that they have a lot of money to sue people who reveal a truth everyone but they want known.
Therefore this never was a free country. Since WW 1, Canada has routinely interned enemy aliens, be it Ukrainians, Japanese Canadians, peaceful German farmers, and even Doukhabour children kidnapped from their parents.
If this was a free country, then it would legalize marijuana. Instead, Ottawa made marijuana laws so tough that if three or more pro-marijuana farmers agreed to grow and distribute marijuana for medical reasons, then they will be falsely charged with conspiracy to traffick and spend a minimum of ten years in jail. Being that there are more than three people in that medical marijuana operation, it is also gang-related. For that they will get another 10 years. This is why in BC, the police claim that "all grow-ops are not mom & pop; they are gang-related." In this way does Ottawa manufacture gang members through their drug crime laws.
If this was a free country, then prostitution would be legalized and made a health concern too. Pandering and pimping however would remain a crime. Any dissent by the moral minorities can easily be remedied by showing them how many of their brothers were Johns, and that repression of prostitution is done mainly to avoid competition with the second oldest profession: religion.
Sadly, we cannot ban politicians because if politics were banned, we'd have more sociopaths who promise us heaven but cause hell when they can't live up to their promises.

The Fallacy of a Democratic Government
Are today's Western nations democracies? While I have yet to find an affirmation of this, I am compelled to rant about this topic today. Thank you to Bobbi Jo, for inspiring me. While I am not an American or Indian citizen, my choice of including them in this rant is because leaders of both nations claim they live in a democracy. Though I am not convinced their governments are run like a democracy, I only use them as examples. Hopefully my rhetoric will inspire others to question their government and their lip service to democracy.
In my opinion, America and India think they have a democracy when in actual fact, only the bill of rights and privileges potential grant citizens of both countries the rights and freedoms of democracy.
Yet the minute they exercise their right to protest injustice, the radical right arises to suppress them and take away those rights by force, and force their own privileges on everyone else who is excluded by them i.e. visible minorities, the poor, and the mentally challenged.
These rights and freedoms are slowly taken away from us at home, in public education, and at work. By the time some of us make it to university, we learn that our rights and freedoms are invoilable and still remaion, despite oppression and everyday suppression we exert to protect our lives.
In any given country, it is true that some people (the upper class) have more rights than the underprivileged. If a person from the middle class does not abide by the status quo, then he or she may be bullied into accepting it by force.
If a person tries ot exercises his rights, then he treads a rocky road because, despite free legal aid, the lawyer usually sides with his oppressor.
For example, when corruption such as sexual slavery is exposed, the whistleblower is usually forced into a psychiatric ward and given medication. Later, the nation's scions will send their representative to force him to abandon his just cause and their collaborators in mass media will tarnish his name, forcing him to abandon his legal career. Then he will retire in the country to tend an orchard on his hobby farm with the money he accumulated whilst defending the poor and underprivileged, who were mainly prostitutes, drug addicts and the poor.
America is a sick society that presents its citizens with the illusion of democracy. When the smoke and mirrors are exposed, rather than admitting the truth ("government is not a democracy but a plutocracy with lip service paid 24/7 through mass media"), the majority will attack the whistle-blower rather than face the truth.
What then is truth and justice when the American way is based on a sickness in society that never goes away but worsens by the day?
Mass media perpetuates this sickness, sometimes making a parody of it to entertain the masses, and sometimes exposing their version of the truth so as to profit from it whilst a scapegoat is chosen in a feeble attempt to absolve themselves of their participation in a new round of smoke and mirrors.
Whereas in the Americas, democracy at the grassroots level often meets imprisonment for their activism, in Asia and in Africa, there appears to be a handful of nations which are either dictatorships or run as classical democracies where the majority rules, and the large number of the poor live in abject poverty. Corruption exists because most people of the middle class realize that bribery smooths the wheel of progress and hush money is often paid to repair the honor of the privileged when they err.
Muslim martyrdom falls into this part of my rant, because blood money usually prevents the surviving family from legally challenging the injustice. If anyone objects, then the radical right will harass them and bribe the legal system so that if anyone dares to confront corruption, off to prison they go.
In other nations, particularly in Africa, the native Africans are militantly confrontative towards Asians (Indians), the Chinese and other "visible" minorities who are usually the majority back in their ancestral homelands (China, India, Pakistan, and sometimes South-East Asians).
It is delusion to declare that free-market capitalism empowers democratic rights. If this were true, then why did the US government bailout mortgage banks? If capitalism helps grease the wheels of democracy, then why did not the Mexican government closely scrutinize HSBC Mexico to ensure transparency to prevent money laundering? Perhaps it is because HSBC Mexico is a legal person, and thus has more privacy rights than the poor in Mexico.
I wish I could rant longer, but I must prepare for work soon. Were I to devote time to asking these questions which rarely are answered by the government, I'd be one of the "lazy poor" rather than a merely the "working poor."
In conclusion, I like to thank the people who act to discover the answers to my questions. We are all in this together. Peace to you all.

Confusion Reigns in Wake of 1-866 Number for Income Assistance Recipients in Surrey
Currently I am documenting my encounter with my welfare office.
If I screwed up like that, and was a business then I'd get sued.
If the government fucks up, then I have to gaman (bear with it).
Boy, are they lucky I'm Japanese-Canadian cos my Anglo buddies in the line at the local office would cuss up a storm.
Since I have been using the 1-866 number, I am getting fucked over by the confusion caused by not noticing I am in North Delta, not Vancouver!!!!!!!

Our Common Enemy (for the Buddhist Activist)
Our common enemy is not governments, transnational corporations, or even quasi-world governmental bodies such as the World Trade Organization. No, the root cause of the delusion that they are our enemies is the one true enemy.
Yet this enemy is not an external foe, but an inner one. For our enemy is found deep within each of us.
When we blindly crave power, be it derived from fame or fortune, that craving becomes our true enemy. When we become selfish, unwilling to share the joys of life, that selfishness becomes our true enemy. When we fear overcoming our ignorance, that fear becomes our true enemy. When we become angry for any reason, that anger becomes our true enemy. When we let our passions rule our lives, our passions become our true enemy.
Once our true enemy is unleashed, we become deluded about who our enemy is, blaming others when it is unwarranted and looking for an external foe to shift responsibility from ourselves.
In doing so, we become utterly powerless, the self-made victim, self-martyred.
Thus, it becomes so easy to find an enemy in someone else than to own up to the root cause of our own suffering.
In suffering this delusion of self-as-enemy, our natural reaction then is to play the eternal, all-suffering victim and to find an external enemy to fit the dominator role.
Difficult is it to control our passions and to rule over them, and become our only true friend. One can have an advisor to give advice and a mentor to guide us, but few of us can find one to control our passions and to rule over them except each of us alone. Yet, try as we may, alone it may be difficult to discipline oneself so that we do not victimize ourselves.
"How can I be my own enemy?" asks the incredulous fool. "I am but a friend to myself. It is others who seek to destroy me who are my enemies."
Sadly mistaken, the fool is he who believes others seek to destroy him.
"I am my best friend!" declares the enlightened one. "Everyone is also friend to me. Because I do not destroy my self, no enemy do I seek to destroy, for all are my friends."
Happily, the person thus awakened believes others seek to nurture him. In this way, the lie of others as one's enemy is exposed.
So, why is it so convenient to see others as the enemy?
It is due to anger, fear, ignorance, and selfishness — namely, our very passions unchecked lead to the delusion of others as enemies.
How do we control our passions so that we may become our true friends, and see others as friends also?
It is through contemplative meditation that we control our passions, and thus learn to become our own friends, overcoming the delusion of others as enemies.
Thus empowered by overcoming our delusions, we can go on to confront governments, transnational corporations and even world government organizations, and help them overcome their own delusions, accordingly.
However, if we choose instead to live our delusions, then we will suffer the consequences.
Therefore it makes much more sense to overcome our delusions, so that we can help out our deluded friends in government and in corporations realize the truth.

"Student is N*!!*r": Student Debt in Canada Profits the Banks

A few minutes ago I just signed the petition at the Student Loan Debt website, and added my personal story.
It ceases to amaze me that the people who harassed my mother and myself throughout the years from 2003 t0 2005 just stopped calling because I told the National Student Loan Centre my contact information and requested they only use that information. As well, the Student Loan Act's clause about violating my privacy is being adhered to, since Google has enough information for them to track me down, including phone number and current address.
Naturally it would be foolish of me to contact them and inform them of my current address and phone number. So, at the current interest rate of 11%, I probably owe them in $1430-1760 in interest, but that is assuming my principal is $16K. It could be less. But if we assume $1440 is the outstanding interest for 2007, that meant $120 a month keeps interest in near-balance.
In actual fact, $1440 would go to pay off one principal (probably the federal part of the loan), while allowing the other principal to grow. So they'd probably service the smaller amount since its interest is smaller than the larger.
However, I just got my semi-annual bank statement recently, and after balancing out my MoE&IA payments, my annual taxable income is under $6000. This income cap satisfies the $500 a month cap that the Income Assistance act stipulates for persons with disabilities, and works against repayment of my loan.
Why? Because on average, I make less than $500 a month - it is closer to $200-300 a month. As well, I am uncertain if I could cope with working 160 hours a month. Sadly, because the government likes employers with full-time employees and penalizes employees with part-time staff (despite the fact that the latter employers pay less taxes), no company wants a part-time employee.
Besides, I like being security for an employer that caters to the entertainment industry. People who wonder why should search for my En Karma dance video.
However, Jerry Farber is right: "the student as nigger" is reflected in student loan policies and MPAA/RIAA as two ways that their oppression is assured.

BC Premier Sets Good Example for BC Drinkers
Well, the side effects of former lush and Premier of BC, Gordon Campbell's cash grab from the pockets of 20something drinkers is confirmed: Wakefest will not operate in Kelowna again, due to the lack of moderation shown by Wakefest patrons, many of whom showed up without a ticket.
The crowd got so bad the Kelowna RCMP almost panicked and called in the riot squad, which would have been wonderful to see in action throwing tear gas to pacify the crowd as they stumble away with eyes tearing.
Other venues cancelled due to hard drinking rowdies:
WTF is with people who drink to excess and then act out of control? Don't they care that the BC government is laughing all the way to the bank?
Probably not, but with government coffers bursting at the seams with millions of provincial sales tax dollars you'd think someone with a sober head in Victoria is actually pressuring bars, clubs, lounges and restaurants to put up pro-moderation posters to curb thirsty patrons' excessive drinking.
Sadly though, most recreational drinkers just laugh at the posters and drink more.

The information would include names, addresses, land and cellphone numbers, as well as additional mobile phone identification, such as a device serial number and a subscriber identity module (SIM) card number.
The consultation also seeks input on access to e-mail addresses and IP addresses. An IP address is a number that can be used to identify a computer's location.

Turning in Big Brother
It is by a very rare happening that I would find myself in a place such as this. A United States government mental institution after all is not what I call a preferred place of dwelling. Yet one day, my home became disabled and so our government locked me away in a mental institution for asking the social service system for some assistance.
I witnessed some unacceptable activities while imprisoned as an innocent person. Human rights violations, abuse and neglect. I feel obligated ethically to speak out but I am as well outraged by being treated as I was. Just prior to my then previously announced KGO radio campaign I was harassed in person and was accused of the possibilities of terrorism by Fresno County government after speaking out.
I'm making a stand. I'm making a stand to empower my freedoms and to empower a united resolve for the quality of care and essential liberties of disabled Americans forced under the care of the government. I believe that what I witnessed and how I was treated by the government is not entirely uncommon. — Nathan Young
