The Japanese-Canadian Experience: March 24-April 20, 1942

Almost 71 years ago, from March 24 to April 20, 1942, a group of conscientious objectors and Japanese nationals were incarcerated in the Vancouver Immigration Building.

These men were unofficially arrested and detained at the building for almost four weeks, at which point they rioted and were declared "enemy aliens" and sent to Petawawa and Angler, Ontario, to live in the only prison camps in Canada.

In contrast, the "prison camps" of the Interior of BC were closer to the truth of being "internment camps". Though the American Japanese and even their Latin American contingent at Crystal City, Texas, were not forced to pay rent to live in American internment camps.

Yet revisionists within the Japanese-Canadian community have excised any reference to the 28 days these Japanese were in the Immigration Building. There is only a prison camp memoir and a fictionalized account of one person's time in the camp, but reference to these 28 days are missing from most Japanese-Canadian websites on the matter.

IMHO the reason for this "revisionism" is to honor the tradition of covering up a smell so it doesn't stink.

Well, I am uncovering the smell because this revisionism needs to be opened up to the world.

The Japanese-Canadian war experience taught the Canadian government that its War Measures Act was an anarchronism which it got rid of after the apology in 1988.

However, the following questions remain: Why has the BC government not apologized for the acts of racist BC MLAs during the war era? What really motivated the Christian Japanese Canadians to falsely claim the Japanese Buddhist community were potential enemy aliens? Was it done to make themselves feel patriotic or was the real reason to scapegoat the Shin Buddhists needlessly?

Historically, in Japan during the war era, pacifists among the Buddhists were spied on and arrested for "not supporting the war effort." In the end, the leader of Soka Gakkai, a grassroots peace movement based on Nichiren Buddhism and the ideas of its founder, Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, were pro-peace and suffered for it in Japan. Tens of thousands of Japanese Buddhists were imprisoned for supporting peace.

In light of this, the false charges of the Christian Japanese-Canadians against the Buddhists show that the war had actually fractured the Japanese-Canadian community among religious lines.

Blood on Saffron Robes (poem)

(This poem is dedicated to hundreds of Burmese monks who protested Myanmar's deadly regime of The Generals since the assassination of Aung San, Aung San Kyii's father, in 1947)

there's blood on the streets
whether it be rangoon or lhasa
but it aint just the burmese
or even the tibetans
who are being brutally repressed
by their respective governments,
cos there is blood on saffron robes,
but all we hear from our leaders
is a quiet call to show restraint.
Yet do you think burma or china
will listen to a bunch of people
we elected? I don't think so.
in beating and shooting the monks
burma and china have shown
their disrespect for spirituality,
but this goes especially for
china: times are getting interesting
for you because you have been
oppressing your people, letting
gangsters expropriate their land
for the olympics, and hiding
complainers in black prisons.
and now that Beijing has shed
blood on saffron robes in Lhasa,
all the world can do in response
is call for restraint -- gimme a break.
meanwhile coca cola is still going
to support the olympics,
because it stands to make
a profit from marketing
in China and around the world.
it seems to me that all those athletes
are but means of marketing product,
nothing more, nothing less.
but this time, there is
blood on saffron robes,
and any athelete in Beijing
is condoning such violence.
most of the developed nations
want Chinese products, but
the best product from Beijing
is mass marketing of
the Olympic athlete,
all for blood on saffron robes,
it's such a disgrace.
boycott the Olympics.
boycott Coca Cola.
cos of blood on saffron robes.

The Vatican Originally Participated in Oppression In Croatia

It took the Catholic Church two years to cry out against death camps in Croatia during WW2.

Meanwhile it continued to oppress natives in North America until the 1970s.

In the interwar period the Catholic church in Croatia had been a staunch supporter of Croatian nationalism, and it welcomed the establishment of the Croatian state. The Vatican had always supported the stand of the Croatian church and had encouraged Croatian separatism. The Ustaša extermination drive against Serbs, Jews, and Gypsies presented the church with a dilemma.

Many Catholic priests, mainly of the lower rank, took an active part in the murder operations. Generally speaking, the reaction of the Catholic church was a function of military and political developments affecting Croatia; when the standing of the NDH regime was weakening and the war was drawing to an end, protests by the church against Ustaša crimes became more and more outspoken. This was not the case in the earlier stages. A bishops’ conference that met in Zagreb in November 1941 was not even prepared to denounce the forced conversion of Serbs that had taken place in the summer of 1941, let alone condemn the persecution and murder of Serbs and Jews. It was not until the middle of 1943 that Aloysius Stepinac, the archbishop of Zagreb, publicly came out against the murder of Croatian Jews (most of whom had been killed by that time), the Serbs, and other nationalities. The Vatican followed a similar line. In the early stage, the Croatian massacres were explained in Rome as “teething troubles of a new regime” (the expression of Monsignor Domenico Tardini of the Vatican state secretariat). When the course of the war was changing, the leaders of the Catholic church began to criticize the Ustaša, but in mild terms; it was only at the end, when Allied victory was assured, that Vatican spokesmen came out with clear denunciations. In some instances, Croatian clerics did help Jews. Their main effort was to save the lives of the Jewish partners in mixed marriages, and most of these did in fact survive. The church also extended help to the Zagreb Jewish community in providing food, medicines and clothing for Jews in the concentration camps. -- http://emperors-clothes.com/croatia/encr.htm

The Role of Media as Holocaust Denier Due to their Fascism

“In his book Wastelands: Historical Truths, published in 1988, Mr. Tudjman wrote that the number of Jews who died in the Holocaust was 900,000 -- not six million.

He has also asserted that not more than 70,000 Serbs died at the hands of the Ustashe -- most historians say around 400,000 were killed.

[Prior to the onset of the crisis in Yugoslavia in 1991, the New York Times reported that 800,000 Serbs, Jews 'Gypsies' and opponents of the Croatian Ustashe were killed in Jasenovac (for example, see ). Starting in 1991, the Times drastically cut the reported numbers, without explanation or consistency, sometimes stating that "tens of thousands" were killed (March 4, 1991), and that unnamed "independent scholars in the United States" were the source of their estimate of 80,000 victims (May 19, 1996), and then again, in this 1995 article, stating that a) Tudjman was the source of the figure of 70,000 (so much for the "independent scholars") and b) that 400,000 had been killed (so much for the "tens of thousands.") - J.I.]

Under Mr. Tudjman’s leadership, Croatia began discriminating against Serbs in 1990 when it adopted a Constitution that declared Croatia “the national state of the Croatian nation.” Under the old Constitution, the Serbs had had equal status with the Croats.

Then the Government adopted a currency and flag associated with the Ustashe Government, a move that helped drive many moderate Serbs into the arms of the Serbian nationalists.”

-- A Would-Be Tito Helps to Dismantle His Legacy, The New York Times, August 20, 1995, Sunday, Late Edition - Final, Franjo Tudjman, Section 1; Page 12; Column 3; Foreign Desk , 946 words, By RAYMOND BONNER , ZAGREB, Croatia, Aug. 18

This documents evidence that Croatia's anti-Slavic constitution in 1990 contributed to the break-up of Yugoslavia by forcing Serbs into nationalism, which led to suspension of Albanian autonomy in Kosova and the Kosova War of 1999. Today's Kosova independence thus is due to probably collaboration between Ustashe, Catholica, Muslims, and the US State Department.

Why do you think radical Serb nashis are rioting in Beograd today?

HOMAGE OF THE TRIPLE GEM

[Homage to the Blessed] Noble and Perfectly Enlightened One.
[Homage to the Blessed] Noble and Perfectly Enlightened One.
[Homage to the Blessed] Noble and Perfectly Enlightened One.

[Now let us chant the recollection of the Buddha.]
[A good word] of the Blessed Ones reputation has spread as follows:
He, the Blessed One, is indeed the Pure One,
the Perfectly Enlightened One;
He is impeccable in conduct and understanding,
the Accomplished One, the Knower of the Worlds;
He trains perfectly those who wish to be trained;
He is Teacher of gods and humans;
He is Awake and Holy.

[Now let us chant the recollection of the Dhamma.]
[The Dhamma] is well expounded by the Blessed One,
Apparent here and now, timeless, encouraging investigation,
Leading inwards, to be experienced individually by the wise.

[Now let us chant the recollection of the Sangha.]
[They are the Blessed Ones disciples] who have practiced well,
who have practiced directly, who have practiced insightfully;
Those who practice with integrity;
That is, the four pairs, the eight kinds of noble beings;
These are the Blessed Ones disciples.
Such ones are worthy of gifts, worthy of hospitality,
worthy of offerings, worthy of respect;
They give occasion for incomparable goodness to arise in the world.

Unshaken (poem)

Even as a great rock is not shaken by the wind, the wise man is not shaken by praise or blame. — Buddha

Abandoning ego addiction, striving for egolessness, the wise man is attached to neither praise or blame.

Thus he is affected by neither, yet keeps quiet about how it all affects him.

Privatisation of Health Care Risky

Reference: http://www.uow.edu.au/arts/sts/bmartin/dissent/documents/health/map_usa.html

Corruption will run rampant, and children and families will be hurt in the process of increased profits.

Most likely, privatisation of the prison system will follow, and associated abuses will plague the industry.

Thus, health care for profit and prison for profit will not benefit the patient and prisoner.

Instead, it will just worsen social ills even more.

Why not the world?

Poor Parent-Child Relationship May Cause Sociopathy: the Asa Coon Case

Reference: http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=3721204

In mid-October 2007, Asa Coon shot four people at an alternative school in Cleveland. The previous Monday he had been suspended for fighting with another student. The reason? His declared fannish worship of Marilyn Manson, who he deemed his "God".

SuccessTech Academy is an independent alternative high school established to "help" troubled youth who have been disenfranchised from public school due to their dysfunctional behavior. This school didn't have the money to hire two security guards, and on the day of the shooting the only guard was on vacation.

The key statement in this article is the disrespect shown between mother and child. Both his mother and Asa Coon used to diss each other regularly. As well, his elder brother Stephen had been in prison, and Asa has been in and out of juvenile court.

Thus, poverty only causes sociopathy only if the parents do not respect social rules.

And of the four people shot by Coon, none of them died. However, the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound behind the right ear.

This is surely proof that Asa Coon did not intend anyone harm but was only acting out his rage at being unjustly suspended for daring to defend his fannish worship of Marilyn Manson

Anarchism: the Path to Freedom and Self-Determination (poem)

"Think globally, act locally."
Pundits told us to embrace this
with open heart, but what did it get us?
Homelessness has gripped our cities,
and with tacit approval of DEA
by Ottawa, gang-related crime has risen.
In response, the social fascists support
harsh treatment of gang-related violence.
Yet this does nothing to solve that violence;
it merely perpetuates oppression of the poor.

"Think locally, act globally."
This is the response of rich social capitalists,
who pour money into poor countries,
sacrificing environmental sustainability
for profit, which is just laundering
money best spent on relieving homelessness and poverty.
If Ottawa was really concerned about the poor,
then how come it has dumped the problem on the provinces?
If each province was truly concerned
about the plight of the poor,
then why does it not protest the myths
perpetuated by the media?

It's a waste of money to criminalize poverty,
yet that is what the State has done.
It digs its heels at relieving oppression
of the mentally ill, and perpetuates
a class warfare mentality among its people.
Yet should we rise to challenge the State,
what guarantees do we have to be treated right,
and not be discounted as "kooks" or worse,
treated like criminals or even, terrorists?

So I'd rather think and act locally,
but remember the plight of the minorities
whose blood was spilled for freedom
and self-determination.
Forget nationalism - its legacy threatens freedom.
Forget socialism - within its heart hides fascism.
Forget state democracy - fascists have perverted its cause.
Thus, anarchism - which supports the family and the tribe -
is the only path to true freedom and self-determination.

Nohchallah - Chechen Hospitality and Moral Code of Tribals

"Nohcho" means a Chechen. The term "nohchalla" encompasses all features of the Chechen character in one word. These included the entire range of moral, ethical and moral norms of Chechen life. You could also say that this is Chechen "code of honour".

Hospitality is "nohchalla." Politeness and docility is "nohchalla." Mutual reciprocity is "nohchalla." Yet the term "nohchalla" is incompatible with "rank" and "status". Thus, the Chechens have never been princes nor have they formed a kingdom.

"Nohchalla" is the ability to build lasting relationships with people, in no way demonstrating one's superiority, even being in a privileged position. Rather, in such a situation one should be especially courteous and friendly, so as not to hurt anybody's feelings.

"Nohchalla" is friendship for life: in the days of sadness and joy in the days. Friendship for life has the notion of the sacred. Inattentiveness or discourtesy towards a brother is forgiven, but never towards a friend!

"Nohchalla" has a special reverence for women. While stressing respect for the relatives of his mother or his wife, a man with a horse goes right to the entrance to the village where they live. So cherish the honour given women that only a man brought up in the spirit of "nohchalla" displays.

A personal sense of freedom and the willingness to defend it is "nohchalla." For "nohchalla" obligates the Chechen to respect anyone, but to reject coercion, force, and violence.

Indeed, "nohchalla" is not law but what a Chechen does knowingly and voluntarily. It is currently the democracy of the Nokhchiin.

Of Putinjugend and The Current Slide Back into Fascism

Young Russians who believe in the Nashi doctrine must be exposed for the Putinjugend they are, and other peoples who believe an exclusive "us" means the others should be kicked out of their nations must always exposed.

For post-modern Russia, and the world at large, must remember is that if one speaks Russian, one is Russian regardless whether one's ancestors were originally Vikings, Germans, Polish, Chechens, "dark-skinned people", Mongolian, Turkish or Cossack.

Indeed, even if one's ancestry is Indian, if one speaks Russian, you are also Russian, regardless of what the Nashis say or do.

However, if either side chooses violence, then they have no right to claim Russia for their own - or whatever country in which they happen to reside. If anyone chooses violence, then it does not make them any more civilized than the people they fear.

For, to not choose violence implies "law-abiding".

the cold: part 2

About two weeks ago, I caught the first part of a cold, complete with fever.

Yet my coughs produced results, though it was mainly phlegm without color and thin, like mucus.

Two weeks later, and five days after strep throat, the results are with color (greenish) and thick.

As well, the taste in my mouth is like millions of my body's macrophages are successfully decimating the streptococcus bacteria.

Indeed, my coughs are less frequent but with results.

Ah, the miracle of a working immune system is precious!

Ego Addiction

I have an addiction.

It's called 'ego addiction.'

It means that I spend most of my waking hours worrying about whether people like me, agree with me, understand me, care about me, want me, respect me, admire me, listen to me. It means that I am dominated by my ego, possessed by it, controlled by it. It means that my vision, my hearing, my understanding must all pass through the filter of my ego.

Not very flattering.

A friend of mine pointed it out. He suggested that one of the symptoms of my ego addiction is 'attachment.' I had never heard that term before in this context. He explained, 'I heard a speaker once who told the audience before he started, If, during my talk, you find yourself disagreeing with my comments or angry or bored and want to leave, go ahead, I am not attached to my comments.'"

"Attached to my comments." Wow! Those words went off like a bombshell in my mind. It was one of those "aha's" of life. I recognized myself in those comments because that is exactly what I do. I attach myself to my words, to my actions, to my possessions...my children, my job, my faith. If you don't agree with what I say, I take it personally. If you walk out during my talk, it must be something I said. If you miss a Sunday or two at my church, I must have offended you, you don't like me, my theology is not acceptable...

...Mix a good dose of ego addiction with Jesus, and the consequences are frightening. It causes ministers to build huge churches as a monument to their own ego, it causes people to go on television with their "unique ministry," which is another term for "my ministry." It causes people to write books, speak all over the world, abandon their families, their friends, and their neighborhoods so they can respond to the "great need"... which is really the need to be needed....

...How embarrassing it is to come to the third chapter of John. John's popularity was dropping off and Jesus' popularity was growing. Naturally, John's disciples were very upset. John calmed them down and then stunned them by whispering those magnificent words, "He must increase, I must decrease."...

...What if I took those words seriously, detached my ego from Jesus, and started following Him instead? What if I started worrying more about Jesus' reputation and less about my own? Maybe Mike would begin to disappear ... and Jesus would start appearing in my family, in my relationships, in my church ... even in this magazine."

Mike Yaconelli, "Ego Addiction," The Door Magazine, #125, October 1992.

When you put other people first, then the ego does not distort the truth.

Then you can walk on one step at a time with less stumbling.

Although it isn't that simple for most people, what complicates the matter is that it takes a lot of little baby steps before you are able to walk confidently.

Review: Meg & Dia - If you're poor, find something to sue somebody for

Angels never sang more beautifully than these two, Meg and Dia.

Each song speaks of adventures that cross back and forth across America, east to west, and north to south.

For these two bring to life the inner world other girls keep locked inside.

Cardigan Weather is a lively melody, but Lessons in New Jersey sounds almost like they were inspired by JPOP and added their own lyrics to it.

Monster is lively, too.

But Suddenly Sunday blew me away.

Strawberry Waltz again brought to life something out of their imagination, and Santa Barbara ended it all nicely.

Overall, a great album.

Loss, and Profit within the context of HaX0ring

No, this aint a financial analysis of my so-called life. Today's story began at home, where I'd be stuck for about five or six day due to a slight influenza attack, which stormed in late last Sunday night, only to inflame my body the next day. For several days I passed in and out of consciousness, my breath hot, my throat parched, my joints aching...

Relief came to me only yesterday.

It's said that whether cold or flu, when the virus hits, it's due to contact with whomever suffered its ravages last, rather than because of inclement weather like rain, wind and often, snow. Once you realize this, then getting out of the house after being cooped up for too long is always a welcome relief despite the circumstances, especially when spring is barely nascent and big fluffy bits of snow are trying to obscure the landscape once more.

But I wax too eloquently to match the current mood, which has been briefly influenced by a book edited by Jeff Moss called Stealing the Network: How to Own a Continent, a hacker novel written by a collection of hackers for hackers, which is referred to as STC.

Because I am a great fan of Google, I had to research this book, but didn't get further than this link which I will obscure enough so the botnets don't rip it to shreds:

Bl@ckTo\/\/3r by Brian Hatch of Nmap dot org - the URL is insecure dot org fwf-slash stc fwd-flash sti dot html - is a great spy story for the hacker, complete with an indepth look at how to hack into X11. Yet the novel mentioned the use of /dev/kmem and after a brief spell of searching for it, I discovered the following URL: www dot la dash samhna dot de fwd-slash library fwd-slash rootkits fwd-slash index dot html which explains Linux kernel rootkits in a training manual.

Really wicked stuff!

Especially samhain, which is a great data integrity and host intrusion alert system. A brief use of searching the apt-cache revealed the following:

Oh joy! Oh, jubilation!

Then as I read bits of the la samhna article on Linux kernel rootkits, I realized that STC is more my speed than a manual on kernel rootkits, especially after the flu.

This brain of mine is done in by the flu I suspect, such that while I can understand about 1/3 of the quqntum dynamic stuff on wikipedia, total concentrated effort to grokk a technical manual on kernel rootkits is met with the same feeling I felt long ago when I had to study for not one test but several back in college twenty years ago.

Yes, my brain is currently mush, but hopefully with rest and relaxation I'll be able to finish STC and dive into the kernel rootkit manual... soon.
