The Moderation Method: The Glass is Both Half Empty and Half Full!

Even if my life didn't turn out well as my classmates who graduated in 1976, then I will still insist that I would never change what I did other than get more sleep.

I have a method to deal with life.

My method is to always bounce back from any short stumble, be it financial or what have you (depression, anxiety, upsets).

For someone to tell me such and such is for my own good without any humor is too mercenary for my tastes. You may think you are helping me, but it's like sticking a knife in me to tell me "It's for your own good."

How dare you to think you know what's good for me?

It is not rude to say "I understand", because that beats anything that self help books and the inspirational speaker can give me! ;)

I too have found nobody likes what they mistake for wavering i.e. to honestly state the truth that the glass is half empty and half full, while around you the realists cry "you cannot have both!!!"

Um... Sorry, most hard cases at the mental health clinic ooze with seeing the mirror darkly and insisting that the cup is half empty. Is it really up to me to help my brother who also suffers when he insists that he has to be honest with his feelings?

That's not honesty; that's a form of subtle violence against all the positive feelings which we bottle up until we only have negative ones to practice.

Truth is, when you're home and isolated to the point where you think being home is more "normal" than talking with someone, then you're maladapted, and no one may change your mind unless they talk as I do now.

Yes, I am mildly maladapted but I'm trying to show the positive and the negative, because balanced expression beats gazing in that dark mirror.

If this offends anyone who insists on the safety of the hearth over dealing with life outside, then I believe deep down that talking to someone hurts less than your reluctance to share with a trusted friend.

All the anxiety you have might have you to believe your delusions about other people are real. A person is only real when they can glow with positive vibes whilst explaining how they conquer the negative ones daily.

Hopefully the gentle reader is clear of mind enough to see the beauty of positive thinking in what I write.

Emotional IQ Test's Vagueness Teaches Self Improvement

I tried this emotional intelligence test and the answer said I have an above average score.

However, the description about this score was relatively vague.

In fact, it was so vague I realized, after reflecting on the ads on thatpage, that it was a subtle marketing ploy to get me to compete against myself, which is part of the motive behind such tests.

For what it also teaches is to improve oneself.

Rethinking My Meds

After reading Doctor Daniel G. Amen's book Change Your Brain, Change Your Life, I learned that gabapentin would improve temporal lobe function and control any possible seizures and aggression, as well as maintain emotional stability, relieve headaches, treat depression, and bipolar disorder.

Like mirtazapine, gabapentin has a good safety profile. While the former drug acts as a major sedative without the risk of benzodiazepine addiction, gabapentin has only moderate potential for the human body to develop a tolerance to it.

Indeed, this new psycho-pharmaceutical drug increases my ability to improve my mood by keeping it stable and thus improves my mental health.

After I chose mirtazapine because of its safety profile, I later was able to receive a prescription for gabapentin from my doctor after stating to him that I needed to manage pain and emotional stability.

After adding gabapentin to my medication regime of mirtazapine I've notice a change in my behavior and productivity.

To give you an idea of productivity, I'll list some things I got done in a day:
  • created four videos to upload to Youtube.
  • uploaded a couple pictures to Flickr and Picasa.
  • created 3 songs for my new music album at Mix.DJ.
With the motivation and drive that gabapentin has given me, I believe that my darkest days in December are now over, for Friday (yesterday) is when I saw the light of day as a new beginning. As a result, I am inspired to change my life by improving my social skills so that they may be used to help others. Although this inspiration may be due to me experiencing the placebo effect, it is my strong belief that life has become brighter due to self-hypnosis with affirmations to uplift mood and aid in making positive choices to help and be of service to others. Such self-hypnosis is necessary to my recovery with the aid of mirtazapine and gabapentin.

Disclaimer: the decision to ask for a month's supply of gabapentin was not originally due to reading Doctor Amen's book. In fact, I had been researching and studying many of the medications listed in the Appendix of his book on pages 307-313 (paperback edition) since 2006. Gabapentin showed up several times as having a high safety profile like mirtazapine.
