The MAO Theory of Madness

Actually men produce vasopressin at orgasm.

This lowers blood pressure.

This is also how man destresses, and does not go crazy due to stress.

Indeed, men who kill report not having had time to attend to their sexual needs before they go on a rampage.

So there may be a connexion between vasopressin and monamine oxidase (MAO) receptor expression.

Without MAO, a person would have an excess of neurotransmitters.

Without MAO a person would develop insomnia, then hypomania, then mania and finally psychosis until he dies from lack of sleep.

This is why most anti-psychotics have an antihistamine effect.

Science Links Religion and Romance

Religious ecstasy and romantic love both derive their hold on the psyche from oxytocin, the neurohormone that is known as the love hormone.

"Religious ecstasy" refers to that feeling of being reborn refered to as "born again". Likewise, true love is the psychic state when the lover feels whole.

Whether born again or made whole, the person experiences a spiritual awakening.

This spiritual awakening feels like being born again to the religious, and becoming whole to the lover.

Unconditional Love Unacceptable to Women With Hidden Depressive Disorders

Unconditional love scares a lot of women because of lack of trust of a man who practices it.

Such women may have low oxytocin levels. Overall though, they also may have higher levels of dynorphin, and consequently suffer a depressive disorder which may be undiagnosed.

Thus it would be wise to offer such women unconditional love because for them, sex will only provide temporary relief for their problem. In contrast, unconditional love is able to provide for the practitioner, trust in others, and faith in them.

Indeed, the only thing I can do for such women is to emphasize by action and word that I believe in them.

As well, my conduct must always be platonic and respectful.

Oxytocin: Is It the Cure for Sexual Jealousy?

In the brain, oxytocin is involved in social recognition and bonding. Thus this neuropepide may be involved in the formation of trust between people.

Consequently, distrust between people may be due to dynorphin levels, since this k-opioid agonist counteracts oxytocin's effects. What may happen is that dynorphin causes paranoia and psychotic symptoms (hallucinations about relationships, usually paranoid), which releases corticosteroids due to stress. This leads to feeling bummed out and one is not in a loving, caring mood as a result.

The cure? Another orgasm or two.

I think this is why people hook up, and may have sex by the 3rd date, if not sooner.

Though, cuddling and hugging also releases oxytocin, which may explain the closeness of the friendship bond. A few couples break up because of jealousy over close friends. Jealousy is related to dynorphin release, too -- since it involves distrust, which indicates low levels of oxytocin.
