This One's for the Atheists (satire)

It is because they fear nonbeing that certain people will try your patience when you mention God or even the Buddha. They who fear thusly deliberately remain ignorant. You cannot get any agreement from them because of that fear of death.

Yet I do not fear death because of having meditated on birth and death, being and nonbeing. Perhaps it is my faith in an imaginary friend that gives me hope beyond belief until fearlessness is my comfort and strength.

Those people who do not understand how belief and faith work are ignorant of both faith and belief. In their ignorance, their fears are revealed.

This state of being that their minds reside in is called doubt and is associated with faithlessness. I as one of the faithful shall not get an answer, were I to ask "what do you believe in and do you have faith in it?"

Gravity causes a stone to fall to the earth, but it is a man who throws it. "Let he who dares to cast the first stone be free of sin."

In writing this post, I cast no stone. It is a testimony of faith. Deal with it.

Vairocana Mantra

Just as Amida is
compassion personified,
so too is Vairocana
wisdom personified.
As the Nembutsu is
Amida calling,
the Vairocana Mantra
is Wisdom calling.

Vairocana is a celestial Buddha being the Adi Buddha which represents that wisdom of transcendental reality, the True Reality of Being and Non-Beinng. This reality is non-dual because it is empty of ignorance and because samsara is the root of nirvana.

For it is suffering that motivates us to seek its cure through understanding of the Four Noble Truths and to engage in spiritual activities that result in the spiritual treasures of teaching the Dharma, humility, meditation, giving, and fearlessness to cure spiritual ignorance out of which craving arises, the destruction of anger and hate, eradication of selfishness, neutralizing pride and greed, and pacification of envy.

Being, Emptiness and Oneness

Oneness encompasses everything, and transcends self and other.

Emptiness is a quality shared by everything, for all things, being impermanent, are empty of substance.

Beingness has to do with existence, in the here-and-now. Being impermanent, it too is empty of substance.

But what of nothingness (nihilism)? If one denies of the existence of nihilism, does that not confirm nothing exists? No, for that is a fallacy, as the denial of nihilism proves that everything exists due to dependent arising.

Thus, nothingness is a ridiculous delusion, much like the non-existence of self. All the concept of non-self demonstrates is that emptiness of self is an important truth of life.

Because everything exists due to dependent arising, all of this (being, emptiness and onesness) is in flux.

Affirmation about the Difference Between True Self Esteem & Contingent Self Esteem

Being who one is supports true self esteem.

Knowing what one is only temporarily supports contingent self esteem.

Let wisdom help me to see the difference.

The Ego Prayer (poem)

If the very nature of Being
is to become "I am",
what a challenge for someone
who foolishly chooses
Ego over selflessness!
For this person would sooner
choose having No-mind
over all the suffering
that Ego has brought to life
on this good earth.
So let this person lose
his hold over all clinging,
if only to let go of Ego.
