I woke up with this nagging feeling that the dream I had was a cultural one.
Certainly my computer may have a setting to display in kanji, hiragana and katakana; but I had this confusion where my mind had a "setting" to "think" in Japanese whilst dreaming, and that I had awoken before setting it back to Western.
There was also a memory from the dream where I had dreamed other dream sequences, and was reminded of them.
If this had happened whilst awake, then they'd be a psychotic break.
Now that I am totally awake, I know them to be a dream.
However, one thing I am certain of is that sleep confusion is similar to a psychotic break in that I don't know if what is real and what is not real.
But as I awaken, I know what is real and attribute the confusion to coming to consciousness.
Furthermore, dreaming whilst awake could appear to be a psychotic break.
For me, though, the use of psychiatric terms is to delineate between waking and sleeping states.
Also this is the first time I had a cultural dream like this where it had a strong Japanese flavour to it, which "switched off" when I awoke.
Yet I don't remember if there were any conversations in it.
Inspired by the Journey to the West, Gandhara is devoted to both Western and Eastern Truth.
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ - Hail the Lord whose name eliminates spiritual darkness.
Om Ganeshaya Namaha (ॐ गणेशाय नमः) - Homage to Ganesha.
Unconditional love tranquilizes the mind, and thus conquers all.

Trauma in My Life
I believe that my first traumatic experience is related to adapting to Western culture, and the byproduct of it are these weird dreams.
I feel insecure in life because Western culture puts no pressure on me to conform, yet unconsciously social pressures to conform are present.
This is a kind of schizophregenic double-bind. Indeed, I feel that society generally is the root of schizophrenia. This is not a paranoid feeling, but a rationalization to explain my state of mind.

Armchair Dream analysis
This post is snarfed from a "hidden" forum on Craigslist, and is posted with the dreamer The Buffalo's permission. RIP Buff.
Since he isn't well versed in dream analysis, he isn't going to pretend to understand it.
IMHO probably this dream analysis reveals much of how analytical my mind gets when inhibitions are positively released by lack of sleep on my part.
Armchair dream analysis of dream
-=tis my humble opinion, oöäh?=-
The Buffalo proffered: I was back in Australia, a place I haven't been since I was just a wee child.
Commentary: usually a person dreams of the most vivid memories of childhood, since the unconscious mind is trying to say something to the conscious mind. That such detail is remembered is rare.
The Buffalo proffered: I was on Bondi beach in Sydney and I was about to ring the shark bell, just like I did when I was there.
Commentary: "Ring the bell" implies a reminder from childhood which may be recurring in present life, especially when the shark bell is used to warn when it's time to stop swimming because of danger. It also refers to danger to the person's life. Buffalo was ill with cancer over the past few years.
The Buffalo proffered: But then Evita Peron came up and told me no, so I didn't. Then she started singing "Don't cry for me Argentina", only it wasn't Evita, it was Madonna playing Evita, like in the movie.
Commentary: dreaming about Evita Person is vague symbolism, given that she and her husband were notorious for misuse of public funds.
It's a subtle clue about DEPRESSION. Here's how I know...
Madonna's role in the Peron drama was done despite Argentina not getting much more than few tourist dollars. There are people there suffering due to fiscal irresponsibility. I sure hope you aren't in debt or anything, because dreaming about Evita symbolizes money woes. Madonna symbolizes a strong woman in your past.
The lack of any male archetypes is typical, as they are obscured.
...
BTW I get my best dream analysis work when insomnia puts me on the caveman hours of 36 awake, 12 asleep. YMMV

Dreams Dependent on DMT
The fact that MAO-A and MAO-B oxidizes both neurotransmitters and DMT so we don't go mad is not common knowledge.
Insomnia probably leads to neurotransmitters' levels changing which might lead to MAO not oxidizing DMT.
Hallucinations result, resulting in more stress.
At the root of this is cortisol, which reduces receptors from doing their job.
It is known that high levels of neurotransmitters leads to psychosis while low levels may explain depression.
However, anxiety may be a learned response to uncertainty.
DMT is naturally expressed in the brain, but is quickly metabolized, possibly by MAO.
IMHO it explains dreams.

The One (poem)
All of us, as phantasms in a dream,
had best not awaken the Dreamer,
lest the light resulting help us see
we are each reflections of the One.
had best not awaken the Dreamer,
lest the light resulting help us see
we are each reflections of the One.

Dreamtime Is Awakening Me to A Rich Spiritual World
November 18, 2007: This evening I had a couple dreams that seemed so insignificant that I had to record them here. Although the raw dream experience usually is best not over-analyzed, I thought that it is best that they are written down before they are forgotten, just to see where this leads me.
Dream #1:
In the first one, just a I was about to fall asleep, it felt like my head hit something and was shaken wake by a sleep convulsion. This occurs as one is about to sleep, when the consciousness lets go of control over the body.
Dream #2:
Later on, I visited a certain place in Dreamtime I had been to before, which is like an refuge for dreamers. The analog in "real time" is asylum. It feels like a real place but I know it is part of Dreamtime because I've never been there in real time.
This particular place appears to be related to a restaurant, as well as to my hometown. I'd like to think of it as the Hometown.
Dream #3:
Lastly I sunk down to some lower place and then slowly arose out of it, only to awaken.
I cannot think of anything that happened in real time which affecting me in such a way as to enter Dreamtime, so I am posting it here to refer to over the next few weeks.
Since I cannot add anymore to the above descriptions, I will stop as to prevent too much overanalyzing from happening.

How the Goddess Was Born
One day many moons ago,
Shiva spoke to the maiden
through the vision of red eyes
by a homesick woman
who'd been abandoned by her lover.
Then the maiden saw deities
come to bow and propitiate her.
For she has become Shakti.
With her new powers even the heavens moved.
Yet her dancing brought dread
to family and friends alike,
who are lost in their reality.
So they sent her to the Moon,
a 28-day stay in Limbo.
To this day the Goddess tells
very few people of her visit to dreamtime,
lest she be banished to the moon for life.
Indeed, she now feels people
who she's befriended have turned on her.
She even abandoned the stability
of Sister Serenity.
Now the past has faded away
until only the myths are left
in dreamtime, where
Shiva waits for her return
when she sleeps and
the Goddess dances
with him once again.
