Thoughts on Cancer (satire)

When I mention what I would do if I got cancer, people get scared for me.

However, I do not believe in chemotherapy because, in order to fight cancer, you are given a drug to suppress your immune system and then rely on the doctors' word that chemotherapy will kill the cancer cells.

Yes, you have to have faith that the chemo won't kill you before the cancer does, because it causes nausea, vomiting and loss of appetite.

So basically, it's a gamble. Either the chemo kills the cancer or you die of cancer. Or, you could have the cancer removed IF it is near you navel (e.g. ovarian cancer and possibly testicular cancer, both of which do not send cancer seed cells to the liver to be spread throughout the body.

However, most people with colon cancer usually die of old age before the cancer becomes a problem. I know this to be true, because my dad died before his cancer became a problem.

So, despite being at risk for prostate cancer, testicular cancer and colon cancer, and knowing that they form slowly, I am not in a rush to get tested because oncologists make money from patients' panic.

In short, chemotherapy makes them money. It's the only "cure" because the anti-cancer medication is big money.

So they subject you to "torture" and if the cell levels are low, declare a "cure", saying your cancer is in remission.

But if you ask how cancer comes about, they give the "I don't know" song and dance, when most cancers are caused by stress and physiological changes due to cortisol and its impact on the immune system.

So ideally, a calm person is likely not to get cancer while an overstressed person might get cancer. No doubt, uptight people who keep their thoughts to themselves get cancer too.

It's how the person reacts to stress that promotes the imbalance in the body's immune system leading to cancer.

This means that, had Angelina Jolie been more laidback, she probably wouldn't have needed the pre-emptive surgeries she paid for to prevent breast and ovary cancer - yes, she cut off her breasts and got a hysterectomy to prevent cancer, which is worse than chemotherapy.

However, she is still going to get cancer because she is so much on the go that her body is in stress, even when she is minding her kids.

It's not like i just decided not to opt for chemo IF I ever got cancer yesterday. I'd decided on this circa 1994.

Would I suffer more? Maybe, but chemo causes more suffering on the longrun, because you will have to take an immunosummpressant for the rest of your life.

That means, you could die from the simple flu more easily. Even mild food poisoning could kill you.

So maybe now you see why I don't believe in chemotherapy.

If my lysine supplementation leads to cancer, then so be it. I'm sure the arginine and citrulline will moderate that.

I also would tell my doctor if I ever get tested for cancer, don't share the positives with me. While I'd be happy to hear I am free of cancer, I also do not want to know that I might have it and my immune system is happily proliferating more cancer.

Once upon a time, I had my own theory about cancer being shen (the consciousness) using chi (the living energy of the universe) due to failing ching (the libido). Because ching is limited, life is limited for each person. However, chi is almost eternal and shen gets passed on to the next generation because it is also supernatural.

Indeed, shen is also the power of a god, which is why the Chinese traditionally pray to Xuan Wu and other gods, much to the ire of the evangelical Christian converts who willingly become ignorant to the wisdom of their ancestors.

However, I am a Buddhist. I am also not Chinese. So there is no cultural bias to cloud my understanding of how chi, ching and shen work. If it came down to it, then I'd consult a TCM practitioner as part of an overall qigong regimen IF I could afford it to prevent cancer. Instead, I'll stick to my supplements and hope the increased Human Growth Factor does not trigger cancer.

Though i have heard that daily vigorous exercise for more than two hours a day is a good cancer preventative. It's lack of exercise that promotes the negative effects of stress to the point of cancer. Thus, sitting on your ass 24-7 promotes cancer while getting at least 8 hours of exercise a week reduces the chance of developing cancer.

But don't take my word for it. Google cancer. You'll be glad you did.

Stop Smoking (satire)

On Saturday I stopped smoking, once again. This has probably been the fifth time that I decided to quit. So this article is being written to remind me to cut the nicotine habit.

First of all, most of my nicotine addiction is psychological. Most of the physiological symptoms disappeared by Sunday. However, all of these psychological symptoms were present before I took up smoking.

From my perspective, the hesitant procrastination, the frantic racing thoughts, and the occasional mood swings are easily remedied by just not thinking about it.

Since I have been meditating off and on for 25 years, it is easy to get over procrastination. I just go out and do my important tasks. On days when I'd rather stay home, I'll either be writing a blog article, creating a song, or most often contributing to Google Plus.

Meditation also helps me with racing thoughts. I just patiently wait them out, and usually they disappear one by one over time.

Mood swings are unpredictable, but subject to patience. Most of the time, my mood is neither extremely happy nor extremely sad. For both feelings are difficult to sustain for long periods. Instead, I feel positive and easy-going.

It also is not important to fixate on happiness as a goal. Rather, happiness is an emotion which inspires the positive mood.

By writing this article, most of my psychological symptoms are kept in control. Writing as self-expression tends to keep my focus on how to remedy the immediate situation. It is difficult to procrastinate on how to present the psychological symptoms, and thus so easy to present the main symptoms.

This is why I like to post on my blog. With all the energy that used to sustain procrastination and racing thoughts now being focused on writing, it is as though my concern about each one of the symptoms fades away.

Now that all of my concerns about the psychological symptoms have been explained, I will present one physiological symptom that has arisen since smoking cessation began: tinnitus.

While I cannot control the tinnitus in my left ear, it is easy to concentrate on writing by using the same method I use for breath meditation. My breathing slows down, and I feel less concerned about that noise in my left ear.

From what can be surmised, having lived with it for decades, a tiny artery that provides life-giving blood to the left side of my head pulses in rhythm to the beating of my heart. With each beat of my heart, that artery pulses near nerves that transmit sound to my brain. An alternate scenario is that my brain "hears" a sound when nerves that used to keep my balance and transmit sound are stimulated by the pulsing of the artery.

In order to accept tinnitus, I think of it as the thunderous flow of life synchronized with the beating of my heart.

When the tinnitus is at its worst, sometimes I think there is an invisible fan somewhere making the noise. However, this is not a hallucination. Rather, this is a coping mechanism in response to the noise that tinnitus causes to the sufferer.

While smoking did not cause the tinnitus, the tinnitus did not cause me to smoke. Most likely, it is an indication that my blood pressure is higher than normal due to the effect of nicotine.

Most likely over time, meditation will help me to cope with tinnitus and the few psychological symptoms I experience everyday. Even the occasional bouts with insomnia have recently subsided.

As well, I have discovered that the noise that tinnitus causes goes away when out in public, where street noise drowns it out almost completely. It is possible that listening to music will help relieve tinnitus symptoms, too.

Returning to smoking cessation, I know that regular exercise does help control the symptoms. So my plan for the future is to continue with the meditation and regular exercise to recover from smoking. Additionally, I will be listening to more music to deal with tinnitus.

Cancer is Another Form of Autoimmune Disease

Stress + subclinical malnutrition, including Omega-6 > Omega-3 imbalance = autoimmune diseases (including cancer)

Cancer is an autoimmune disease. Reasoning: the same medications used to treat cancers are also used to treat autoimmune diseases. This includes artificial cortisol, anti-metabolites, immuno-suppressives, and antibiotics.

Possibly some forms of mental illness are side effects of autoimmune disease (including cancer) such as depression and diabetes-related schizophrenia. In the case of diabetes, the autoimmune disease (cancer) attacks the pancreas.

However artificial cortisol causes both pain and weight gain. Both anti-metabolites and immuno-suppressives may stop the immune system from working, causing infections (pneunomia and TB). Antibiotics can cause bacteria to mutate into virulent forms.

Stress + Omega 6 = Omega-3, optimal nutrition, rest & exercise = health

Health is lack of autoimmune disease e.g. a healthy immune system. It is due to optimal nutrition in the diet which consists of an equal balance of Omega-3 and Omega-6 essential fatty acids, optimal vitamins and minerals. Also included are optimal doses of tyrosine (helps produce dopamine, adrenalin and noradrenalin), 5HTP (helps produce serotonin), valeric acid (used to make GABA), and choline (used to make acetylcholine).

Positive Attitude

At a time when people are so conscious of maintaining their physical health by controlling their diets, exercising and so forth, it makes sense to try to cultivate the corresponding positive mental attitudes too.

Perhaps Human Problems Are Symptoms of Our Social Stress

The public education system is designed to manufacture wageslaves not people.

The stress of having to adapt to this repressive system results in "mental illness".

Such disorders as psychoses, mania and depression are all temporary, being maladaptive behavior to adapt to stress, especially that of the insidious double-bind.

The prime example of the double-bind is the "love/hate" relationship of parent and child.

Indeed, human relationships are rife with schizophregenic manifestations complete with depression, mania and psychoses as ways of adapting to the stress of getting along with each other.

And our mental and social ills are the symptoms of human society stressed to the breaking point.
