Google could help out criminals by getting Washington to give away each one a free Nexus 7, a $250 cash card, and $250 of cloud space on Google in exchange for remaining rehabilitated. They also will get six weeks of training in how to use the Nexus 7 in how to use Blogspot and Youtube to make a blog and to monetize it.
Any former criminal who sells their Nexus for drugs or uses the Nexus for illegal purposes is subject to a $250 fine and 1 year in jail with 3 years probation and banned from the Internet for five years.
Oh, and they don't get a new mini tablet when they get out. They get a used Nexus 4 smartphone and 6 months unlimited talk but have to pay for unlimited texting with a carrier of their choice (a $1000 value).
Basically the ex-con is given a $200 cash-card for this purpose. On this card is a chip in it that will be checked when the reformee sees his probation officer. If he sells it, then the information on the chip in the card will prevent use by another person because the pin number for it will be checked against the buyer's ID. Anyone caught selling their cards is subject to a $250 fine. A person who forgets his card's pin number will have to pay a $20 fee to get a replacement which will only have the balance remaining assigned to it.
This will prevent reformees from profiting from this "freebie".
When they get a full-time job, they have to pay back the Govt. at $20/mo for 5 year for a total of $1200. the money from this keeps the program going. Any default on this results in a year's time in jail, and rejection from future enrollment in this program.
This idea can also be used to get the intelligent people with good memories off welfare before the monotony of being on the dole leads to endless poverty i.e. for new people on welfare who are determines to make money off Blogspot and Youtube creating their own legal content.
Google, make this work for the good of America.

Mainstream Media Erred About the 'Mountain Men' Kidnapping (satire)
After researching the Abducted and Abducted II movies which were filmed in Vancouver and in Squamish in 1986 and 1994, I read about the manhunt that began in July 1984 that inspired this non-exploitational exploitation movie series.
What precipitated the manhunt was the shooting of a kidnapping of a Olympic biathlon champion Keri Swenson and the murder of one of the searchers, Alan Goldstein. When it ended in December 1984, the capture of the men, a father Don Nichols and his son Dan Nichols, was completed without the firing of a single shot.
According to news reports at the time of the kidnapping, Goldstein was shot dead by Don Nichols due to the deceased carrying a gun. Around the same time, Dan Nichol critically wounded Ms Swenson.
Over the intervening years, an authorized biography was filmed by NBC in 1987.
Now the son is in news again with a timeline beginning in 2011 when he was busted at an outdoor concert in the camping area. Since then he managed to get bail and was on the lam for three months before turning himself in, according to the sheriff whose officers arrested him.
However, the US Marshals who detained Nichol dispute this claim, stating that "old-fashioned police work" contributed to his arrest. While the sheriff is using dispatcher tapes to back up his claim that Nichol turned himself in, only phone records would verify his claim but would be irrelevant because of the arrest.
IMO it is likely the US Marshals want to quash the police chief's spin, which paints Nichol as cooperative and willing to turn himself in. On the other hand, the US Marshals' spin makes me suspect Nichol might have been uncooperative and willing to avoid capture. Besides, getting busted in a Walmart parking implies a third possibility, his arrest was due to a tip off by Walmart who could request their name not be associated with a known criminal.
My motive for posting in my blog about this old crime is to point out that the articles repeats the error that the mainstream media made in 1984 when the son and his father were dubbed "mountain men".
By doing so without deriding the term or at least explaining how it came about, the local paper of Bozeman in southwest Montana is perpetuating the "mountain men" meme without just cause because neither men were actually mountain men.
Instead, they are the rural Montana version of homeless men. However, homelessness in Montana doesn't sell in the mainstream media. Indeed, Ms Swenson's father stated that the two men were anything but mountain men because they left her for dead after she got shot.
It is the opinion of anonymous to another paper in nearby Livingston that Dan Nichols is a murderer by accountability, in addition to being a burglar, common thief, kidnapper, and now drug dealer for a medical marijuana dispensary that the DEA wants closed for running an illegal marijuana grow-op enterprise.
However, in the case of the enterprise, the arrest of the Flor family contributed to the early demise of the father, Richard in August 2012, a mere four months after sentencing.
Pleading for a suspended sentence for Richard Flor, his daughter Kristin stated that jail time would only damage his health. So she asked for leniency, offering to care for her father who deteriorate rapidly since being arrested the previous year.

The Mother of All Evil (satire)
The penultimate confirmation bias is when some people are convinced satan is real because of crime, war and terrorism.
What actually causes crime, war and terrorism is those nurturing moments of self esteem boosting by well meaning parents morphed into really bad Halloween costumes like the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman-ex-wife trio and the b-gal girls, both of which got too much attention.
In the midst of their narcissism, well meaning people are letting their sense of privilege escalate into death threats. In no time, someone is going to get hurt, usually by outraged people.
Did the two girls who dressed in black-face go out on Halloween like that? Probably not.
As for the Martin, Zimmerman and ex-wife trio, the last I heard, the girl got canned from work.
On the plus side, they are all famous for the wrong reasons in the black community.
However, I am waiting for Al Sharpton to step in and weigh in because that will determine whether the outrage might lead to more black on white crime in north Philadelphia and other ethnic hotspots across the US.
At the moment though, Halloween just got its childlike innocence destroyed by the moral outrage over politically incorrect costumes.
As a result, I am sure Anonymous might be cyberstalking the guilty parties involved when the moral outrage grows strong enough to mount an online lynch mob, rather than attract violent sickos.
Meanwhile in the Middle East, all you have to do is direct a badly written movie insulting Mohammad and people riot, right after the mullahs work them into a frenzy by shouting "Death to the Great Satan!" in Iran and "Yankees go home" in Saudi Arabia.
It is ironic that that notorious movie was blamed for the killing of a US Ambassor in Libya when it actually was a militant operation designed to extract one or more of their own from the CIA compound. The reason why the CIA had captured the men: to determine where munitions ended up. It is most likely the ambassador was killed to prevent anyone in DC from knowing where those munitions ended up.
My guess is, al-Qaeda got their hands on Libyan munitions in Syria.
Meanwhile, back in America, there is little hue and cry that the US government was funneling money into the Muslim Brotherhood. In fact, the Egyptian people were outraged that America was giving the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt money directly without scrutiny by the military and overthrew Morsi.
Perhaps the CIA planned it that way, knowing how anti-American sentiments are an institution in most mosques in the Middle East, along with conspiracy theories about Zionist control over money and propaganda.
It makes the bad taste in Halloween costumes seem surreal in comparison.
Who cares about bad ideas in Halloween costumes? The really bad thing in DC is supporting al-Qaeda indirectly by siding with the rebels in Syria.
The other bad thing is supporting terrorism and war by buying gasoline for your car. Every time you gas up your dollars makes Kuwait and Saudi Arabia rich. Probably a couple pennies out of every dollar spent on gasoline supports al-Qaeda.
Yet we find this logic to be ridiculous, because in our world of mass consumption, all buying gasoline does is make the gasoline companies happy and us happy that we get to work faster to work than on public transit.
If you love your cars more than public transit in your city, could it be because your privilege of driving a car exclude your positive contribution to a safer ride on the bus? That's assuming that you are a law-abiding citizen in your SUV. Public transit needs your help riding the bus. Just make sure you practice all that socializing you learned when the masses were learning hard knocks from the school of life.
I can imagine the privileged aren't going to give up their second car due to their concern about crime on the bus. Yet they may be suffering more road rage due to air pollution and mainly the mental pollution caused by child care nurturing of self esteem by doting parents without daring to teach humility to their child, lest it traumatize them.
Meanwhile their kids love a certain cute music celebrity - take your pick which one you think is cute - who is fronting hip-hop and the culture it implies. I am not probing deeper into this culture lest I get death threats. I like my face just fine and unbroken.
Regarding that confirmation bias regarding crime, terrorism and war, it is because of laws made by the majority that visible minorities receive justice. If that justice is deserved, then it ought to be meted out humanely. Otherwise it leads to crime. If that justice is inhumane and is supported by the State, then it may become State terrorism. All other forms of terrorism are children of the State, some legitimate but mainly illegitimate. When the terrorism becomes well known, the UN may decide to wage a just war -- that is, if America does not start one to serve its own foreign policy requirements and US government obligations to whoever supported the warmongers in the Senate.
In short, confirmation bias leads to crime, terrorism and war until we only see crime, terrorism and war in the world today.
This occurs when the elites of society opt out of dealing with life. It begins with not teaching kids the value of humility for fear their self esteem will be destroyed forever. It leads to narcissism, which can be summed up as "the privileged self importance a person deserves at all times."
If you really want to stop crime, go ride a bus and share your self esteem freely. I am sure some narcissist will put you in your place.
If you want to prevent terrorism, then free everyone who does not drive by selling that second car.
If you want to prevent war, then sit your ass on the next bus and open your eyes to daily life.
For neither war, nor terrorism nor even crime is due to satan but to humanity's undeserved sense of entitlement.
Yes, I am suggesting that selfishness is evil. However, I am only referring to acts of selfishness which have a criminal component to it. This might include certain hate crimes as well. I am certain that the mass media industry is complicit in it, just to get more subscribers and even higher ratings.
In fact, I'm sure of one thing: consumerism is the mother of all evil.

Prison as Therapeutic Community
I feel that we need an alternative to prison to prevent self injury and reduces the stress which causes such behavior.
It involves a ghost town and miles of fencing though. It might cost up to a billion dollars including the doctor, the staff and the business licenses.
Why not a therapeutic community in the sticks?
To prevent abuse of trust by staff, reward whistle-blowing.
To prevent prison escapes, all women make and sell products and services. If someone does escape, then it would be to avoid being a productive member of that community. Let the RCMP handle them.
Why it won't work: it "rewards" crime with a job opportunity.
This is what needs to be done to prevent self harm: women's prisons should not be punitive forms of rehabilitation of criminals. It needs to be viewed as a therapeutic community.
Otherwise, the middle management have lost the vision of what prison ought to be.

Aggression lead to death of murder victim
August 16, 2007:Evidence for aggression initially expressed towards panhandlers:
Ross Hammond, 32, was stabbed Thursday after a heated exchange with four people on Queen Street near Niagara Street.
Ages of suspects involved in Hammond's death:
21, female, of Toronto - allegedly stabbed Mr. Hammond
22, female, originally from the US - participated in heated argument with Mr. Hammond
22, male - originally from the US
21, male - allegedly beat Mr. Hammond - originally from the US.
Update: February 16, 2013
It's actually unknown who stabbed Mr. Hammond. It's tragic that he got stabbed. However, both he and his friend provoked the panhandler who approached them asking for $20.
What they said to her in response was uncalled for.
Certainly it was derogatory and unnecessary. For they could have said, "No, sorry, I can't give you $20."
Three and a half years later, the woman who allegedly stabbed him was eventually convicted in April 2011. She plans to appeal.
After she was arrested, Nicole Kish posted bail, gaining surety from not one but six people. Before her trial in 2011, she was under house arrest at her grandmother's home outside the Toronto area.

In it you'll find out that an innocent woman with no previous history of violence may have been falsely convicted without trial by jury but by a judge. As well, the police had misplaced or erased video tapes which could have cleared her name.

As well, mass media once again has done its part to make it seem like this woman is the killer.

In actual fact, an unknown male assailant is the killer.
However, the newspaper The Star states that the woman's friend, who was deported to the US, was the person who asked Hammond and his friend for $20.

In conclusion, what I've learned from reading both sides of this murder case is this: mass media is complicit with the justice system in "manufacturing" criminals, based on the perceived threat to the status quo by community activists, ethnic minorities, mental health consumers, substance abusers, and almost anyone who catches the attention of the Ontario justice system.

Ross Hammond, 32, was stabbed Thursday after a heated exchange with four people on Queen Street near Niagara Street.

It's actually unknown who stabbed Mr. Hammond. It's tragic that he got stabbed. However, both he and his friend provoked the panhandler who approached them asking for $20.
What they said to her in response was uncalled for.
Certainly it was derogatory and unnecessary. For they could have said, "No, sorry, I can't give you $20."
Three and a half years later, the woman who allegedly stabbed him was eventually convicted in April 2011. She plans to appeal.
After she was arrested, Nicole Kish posted bail, gaining surety from not one but six people. Before her trial in 2011, she was under house arrest at her grandmother's home outside the Toronto area.

This article erroneously states that the woman committed the crime. This makes it simple for the reader of the Globe and Mail to make a false conclusion: the woman depicted as the murderer of Ross Hammond.
In actual fact, an unknown male assailant is the killer.
However, the newspaper The Star states that the woman's friend, who was deported to the US, was the person who asked Hammond and his friend for $20.

In conclusion, what I've learned from reading both sides of this murder case is this: mass media is complicit with the justice system in "manufacturing" criminals, based on the perceived threat to the status quo by community activists, ethnic minorities, mental health consumers, substance abusers, and almost anyone who catches the attention of the Ontario justice system.

The Upper Class Commits 13 Times the Crime As the Poor
The upper class commits far more crime than the lower class. Street criminals stole $15.3 billion in 1993, but white collar-criminals embezzled $200 billion. Street criminals murdered 23,271 people that year, but the decisions of profit-driven corporations murdered at least 318,368 (through pollution, consumer and worker safety violations, etc.) Corporations deserve blame for these deaths because they lobby for and enact policies which drive up these death rates. Virtually all other rich countries have higher safeguards and lower death rates.
Back in 1993, corporations killed over 300,000 people in America a year, and probably 29,000 Canadians. Today, the annual death rate in Canada in 2002 is around 290,000 while in the US it is about 2,400,000.
I'm not sure how to reduce this death rate. However, the solution would not be found by enacting more laws or even by targeting white-collar crime.
As the recent HSBC scandal regarding money laundering in Mexico has shown, employment recruitment may not have had the required security checks needed to reduce corruption within the banking industry.
Indeed, there needs to be more accountability in white collar jobs along with greater transparency, despite resistance to the idea of a corporation being accountable and transparent in its management.

Does the Recent Teen Suicide Needs to Be Assessed as Child Pornography Case?

This isn't a time to be raging. This is the time to actually tell the truth.
With regard to this case, one might say that some men are wolves and others are cowards, but I believe that the worst of them are the stalkers.
A young man is like a wolf when he grooms his victim online to show her breasts to him, as he records everything and even extracts pictures from the video he makes. This is also known as manufacturing child pornography.
If he passes these pictures to share on a website, he is distributing child pornography when the girl in the material is under 18.
If he or another young man takes this pornography and distributes it to not one but three schools, then this is also called distributing pornography.
This will lead to the girl's friend beating her down because her BF pressured her to have sex with him, possibly because of said pornography.
Both her best friend and the BF also may have received that child pornography.
However, his most heinous crime was to stalk the girl online as she went from school to school, distributing the child pornography to the student body and school staff, just because she wouldn't be coerced into helping him manufacture child pornography using her breasts.
This is morally wrong.
Why? Because he manipulated everyone including the girl, the student body of three schools, and most likely the girl's best friend and her BF.
All three schools need to revise what to do when it becomes known that someone sent child pornography in their email.

Yet if the rich could buy their peace of mind, then so much more can the poor achieve peace of mind, if they choose to stop.
For all life is suffering, its root being clinging to what little one has, its cure being to stop clinging dearly, and applying eight simple steps to give it up for a better life.
First one needs to understand that dependent arising is both the root of suffering and its salvation, that through focus on calming the mind, one learn to control the mind, rather than being controlled by others.
With practice, one develops calm insight and can find his way out. Eventually he chooses not to steal or cause harm to others.
So is he free, willing to stand up to his oppressors, even die for his belief.
Thus, the cure for crime is so easy, yet we complicate it by rejecting the Buddhadharma and pretending that it is caused by poverty.

The Global Teen Gang Issue: School Rampage in NSW, Australia
SOME of the boys accused of an armed rampage through a high school showed no remorse and were even planning more crimes while in custody, court documents show.
The five youths, who are aged between 14 and 16, did not appear in person at a hearing in Parramatta Children's Court today over the attack on Merrylands High School in western Sydney yesterday.
Together they face a total of 101 charges, including multiple counts of assault, affray, malicious damage, as well as participating in a criminal group.
These five gang-bangers assaulted seven students and two teachers before the school locked down the classrooms.
It may take a long while for these boys to grow up and show remorse, if ever.
The important thing to remember is that these are white kids.

In America, the homicide rate is 5.5 per 100,000 for 2005 with 3/4 of victims being men and almost 90% of perpetrators also men. This works out to 9 per 100,000 male victims, 2.3 per 100,000 female victims, 12 per 100,000 male perpetrators and 2 per 100,000 female perpetrators.
So unless it happens to be the rare case of a man being murdered by a woman or even rarer, a woman by a woman, most men murder mostly other men. One out of four victims is female.
Regarding rape & sexual assault, it went from 160 per 100,000 in 1995, 120 per 100,000 in 2000, 80 per 100,000 in 2005, to 100 per 100,000 in 2007 in the US according to US Census Bureau records:
